What is an Apple Support PIN, and how do I use it?
Understand verification, PIN usage and the requirements for automated retrieval.

What a Support PIN is
A Support PIN is a temporary four-digit code used to confirm your account during an Apple Support conversation. It is different from a sign-in verification code and does not bypass account verification.
Only share a Support PIN when you have contacted Apple and Apple asks for it. Do not send passwords, verification codes or recovery keys in a support chat.
Get a PIN from Apple
Sign in at account.apple.com.
Complete the verification requested on the page.
Choose Support PIN at the bottom of the page, then Generate PIN.
Give Apple the four-digit PIN when requested.
Expiry and usage

- Use the expiry time shown by Apple.
- Usage
- Each generated PIN can be used only once.
Generate a new PIN if the previous one has expired or been used. Getting a PIN does not remove account restrictions.
Use it with AppleHelper
The relevant feature must be enabled, account verification requirements met and enough points available. AppleHelper can then retrieve and use a PIN in tasks that support it.

- Retrieve before connecting or when needed in the conversation, according to task settings.

- Check Chat tasks for progress, results and system messages.
If the account is locked and automatic unlocking requirements are met, the workflow can try unlocking before retrieving the PIN again.
When manual action is needed
Read the task guidance, complete missing details or verification, then use the available actions. A retrieval failure does not by itself mean that the account is locked or that Apple has rejected the request.
Some unlock flows reset the password. After a reset, also update any account details you keep elsewhere.
